There’s No 1 Million % Recipe

Sometimes we’re looking for certainty beyond certainty. It’s not a thing.

As uncomfortable and messy as it might sound–there’s no one million percent recipe for joy-beauty-peace or just plain old okay-ness.

The morning might suck and the afternoon might be serene. But it’s not a sure thing that you can create that evolution of a day any or every time.

Idea # 1: Surf the Wave

The morning comes, kinda crappy, but you surf it anyway. Acknowledging the vagaries of the day, the yuckiness of the moment and your frustration about it–while letting it be as best as you can, breathing through it, and looking for little ways to ride this wave toward a pleasant afternoon. A “This Too Shall Pass” approach.

Idea #2: Build Out the Day

The morning comes, kinda sucks, but you know there’s a series of little things that can buoy the day.

Go for a short walk.

Get natural light on your face.

Do some creative little task.

Talk to someone you care about.

Drink a big glass of water.

Do something you’re good at.

Idea #3: Play a Team Sport

It’s playful, you’re moving your body, you’re doing it with others.

(Requires that already on a team of some kind!)

Idea #4: Have Sex

Can be a healthy mood booster and reset to your day.

Idea #5: Go to Work

Sometime when you have duties and responsibilities, and have to get stuff done on someone else’s calendar, it can pull you out of the funk

Idea #6: Do Emotional Work

Emotional work can be enjoyable, even pleasurable, if you like the technique or the leader (of the workshop or class.)

Idea #7: Drink a Cup of Coffee

Short of making you jittery, a little bit of caffeine can help spur a redirect of your day.

Idea #8: Put your had over your heart and breathe deeply for 1 minute.

There are so many options here. 7 ideas before this one! Maybe forget all that and just do what’s simple. Put your hand over your heart and breathe deeply for a minute.
