How Does the World Respond to You?

I share a poem, people say oh that’s nice.

I compete in a triathlon, people say huh that’s neat that you did that.

I write a blog post with advice on mental health, people can’t bring themselves to read it.

I take an amazing pic, post it on Instagram, crickets. Well, maybe 1 like, 2 max.

I do other stuff, people don’t respond at all.

But I perform music, and people say “awesome what’s your spotify do you have a soundcloud?”

I’ve only been doing it for about a year and a half. WTF?

I play music and women stare at me during my performance and then afterwards like their eyes are stuck on a string connected to my face or like I’m a dinosaur come back from a fossil.

And I’m like, hey, I’m the same guy who doesn’t play music who you don’t stare at. Same guy.

Really. Same guy. Same guy who makes you shrug when he writes a poem or recommends a healthy awesome nutrition routine.

I wish you stared at me like a living dinosaur when I wrote about mental health. That stuff is important.

But OK. I guess it’s music and performing. I do like it. I’m not saying I don’t like it. In fact, I love it.

It’s just, random?

“ooooh oooo wooo oooo, mental health is important, oooo wooo hooooo” (singing)
