About

Amosho is committed to putting our mental and emotional health and fitness on par with our physical health and fitness; straight forward, matter-of-fact, everyday parts of our every day.

In many ways, physical health has become very casual and mundane: packing a healthy lunch, catching a cold or avoiding catching a cold, wearing a helmet when riding a bike, wearing a seat belt, doing your 5 push ups each morning, staying hydrated throughout the day.

The exercise and nutrition industries are huge.

But some of us believe our mental and emotional health and wellness is just as important (if not more important) and deserves as much care and attention (if not more.) Amosho is about that.

Amosho is about community, practice, support, real growth and change — building community of like-minded folks, creating consistent practices, and supporting it all with intentional structure.

Community and Connection

Community and connection are important in our lives in and of themselves, as well as for our mental health, they are also particularly powerful when structured and focused on something good, helpful, and important. We often simply overlook the incredible impact being social animals has on our lives.

Daily and Weekly Practice

Daily and weekly practice of some kind is indispensable to growth, change, and success of any kind. Effort over time is what is required to get results of any kind.

One of the underpinning principles is Radical Incrementalism. It’s how real change happens. It requires micro actions and passionate consistency, and putting your heart and inspiration into the long term rather than save-the-day-intensity today. This is the powerful antidote to get-rich-quick, get-fit-quick, get-my-goal-quick mentality that we bring to everything.

Safety & Support

Emotional/psychological safety is an essential nutrient for your thriving growth, health, and happiness. This community is committed to welcoming, kindness, and caring for all of our members. Inclusivity is a key principle. Also key are warmth and service.

Continual structure and guidance through the days, weeks, and months provides a powerful support to boost you and help propel your work forward. Daily messages, weekly meetings, monthly themes, and more provide a supportive map and tools to chart your course and successfully engage in your journey.

Inspiration & Growth

The aspirations of Amosho are huge. To change days, to change hearts, to change lives. To seek and work towards freedom, happiness, health, and love. The ideals are high, the work is deep and consistent, the community is caring and grounded.

Real Change, Radical Change, Forever

The mission is no joke. Fundamental, radical, essential change for your health and happiness, and something like fulfillment or whatever high concept you have for yourself. And not just for now, but for always. An enduring, foundational, forever shift.

We accomplish this by holding our inspiration high, doing our deep work, and following all of the above.

Why “Amosho”?

Short answer: it’s a made up word.

Sounds kind of like “emotion.”

It’s soft, open. Maybe sounds like “mojo”? It has energy and flow?

Maybe: peaceful, warm, fun.

Open for you to invent and create.

Meet the Founder

About the founder, Joseph River Timmins:

I care. I’ve struggled. I’m intensely purpose and mission driven. I’ve lived and worked on three continents. My favorite animal is people. I have a Master’s in psychology, I have coaching and teaching certifications, and lots of other relevant stuff.

One of my favorite memories of my life is hiking Mt. Washington in New Hampshire with a couple of close friends. What’s better than an exciting, beautiful journey with real human connection.

This is me pausing for a moment to make a video when swimming across the East River in New York City. It captures a few things I love: water, wild adventure, glee.
